AutoDM answers your Instagram comments and story replies with a personal DM — automatically, on the free tier. This page is the short version of why we built it that way.
The problem we couldn't unsee
Every creator with a growing account hits the same wall. The comments pile up — “link please”, “price?”, “size?” — and every one of them is a person who raised their hand. Answering each DM by hand works at fifty followers and collapses at five thousand.
The tools that solve this exist. They also start at $10 a month and climb past $70 once your engagement stops being “small”. The creators who most need help staying reachable are the ones least able to justify a subscription for it.
AutoDM exists because that trade never made sense to us. The mechanics are solved: Instagram's official API reports the comment, a template personalizes the reply, the DM is queued — typically delivered in seconds. Automating that loop shouldn't require a monthly fee to start.
Why it stays free
Because “free” is not our marketing — it's the whole bet. A free tool that creators genuinely rely on reaches more accounts, stays installed longer, and earns more goodwill than a paid tool they tolerate until the invoice lands.
So the free tier has no trial clock, no card on file, and no cap on automations. If paid tiers arrive later, the automation core described on this page stays available on the free tier.
What we will never build
An automation tool sits close to the line between “helpful” and “spam”. These are the things AutoDM deliberately doesn't do, so your account never has to wonder:
- Mass-blast DMs to strangers
- Comment and story automations only ever message people who engaged with you first. There is no follower-scraping and no purchased lists. (Scheduled bulk campaigns to your own opted-in audience are a separate, explicitly consent-based feature.)
- Fake engagement
- No auto-likes, no auto-follows, no standalone public comments. The optional public confirmation reply only appears under a comment that already triggered your rule — and it's off unless you enable it.
- Password access
- AutoDM connects through Instagram's official Graph API with a token you can revoke any time. Your password never touches our servers, because we never need it.
