Is AutoDM safe for my Instagram account?
AutoDM runs entirely on Instagram's official Graph API. We never ask for your password, you connect through Instagram's own login, and guardrails like opt-out filtering, repeat suppression and rate-aware sending run before every send. No automation is risk-free — Meta can restrict any account for policy violations — but the official API plus these guardrails is the safest way to automate. Is AutoDM really free? What's the catch?
The free tier includes unlimited automations with no credit card required — no trial clock, no feature paywall on the automation core. While paid AutoDM tools charge per month, AutoDM's bet is that a free tool creators love beats a paid tool they tolerate.
Do I need a professional Instagram account?
Yes — Instagram requires a Professional account (Creator or Business) for API messaging. Switching is free and takes under a minute in the Instagram app under Settings, and you can switch back any time.
How fast do the DMs go out?
Typically seconds. When someone comments or replies, Instagram notifies AutoDM through its official webhook and your personalized DM is queued and sent — whether you're online or asleep. Delays happen when Instagram is slow or rate limits apply, and opted-out users are skipped.
Can I DM everyone who comments, not just people who type a keyword?
That's any-comment mode: it covers every eligible commenter — except people who opted out, already received a reply inside your repeat window, or can't receive DMs. Prefer keywords like LINK, PRICE or SIZE? Use exact-word, phrase, contains or regex matching instead — or run several keyword rules on the same post, each with its own message.
Does it work on Reels, posts and Stories?
Reels and feed posts support comment triggers, and Stories support story-reply triggers. You can target one specific post or arm the automation across your whole account.
Will my followers know it's automated?
The DM arrives from your account as a normal Instagram DM, personalized with each follower's name and handle. We recommend telling your audience automations are on (e.g. “my assistant sends the link”) — transparency converts better than pretending you type every DM by hand.
